Ranbir Kapoor’s leaked ‘Ramayana’ clip faces takedown as makers claim it was partly AI-generated: ‘Our team is monitoring and getting the material removed’

The makers of ‘Ramayana: Part 1’ launched an aggressive anti-piracy drive after an 11-second video featuring Ranbir Kapoor went viral across social media platforms. The clip, which surfaced on July 2, was widely circulated on X (formerly Twitter), Reddit and other platforms, with several users claiming it was leaked footage from the exclusive preview showcased at CinemaCon 2026.Soon after the video began gaining traction online, the film’s team initiated takedown measures through its anti-piracy partners to prevent the clip from spreading further.

‘Ramayana’ viral video not entirely authentic

According to Mid-Day, reports suggest that the footage doing the rounds is not completely genuine. While certain visuals are believed to be from the film, other portions have reportedly been manipulated using artificial intelligence and digital editing techniques. The report also stated, “Our team is actively monitoring the internet and getting the material removed. Some elements of the 11-second video are AI-generated, while some glimpses of the film have been morphed and used. In any case, the team doesn’t want any look to be out yet. Glimpses, even the AI-generated ones, take away from the film’s vision.”

Makers remain firm on protecting the film

Director Nitesh Tiwari and producer Namit Malhotra are reportedly treating both piracy and AI-generated misinformation with equal importance as they prepare for the film’s promotional campaign.Sharing the team’s stance, the report read, “The trailer will be launched later this month on an international platform. It’s on us to ensure nothing goes out before the launch.”The makers are determined to ensure that audiences experience the world of ‘Ramayana: Part 1’ as originally envisioned, without unauthorised leaks or altered visuals influencing first impressions.

‘Ramayana: Part 1’ generated massive buzz at CinemaCon
