Author Stephenie Meyer wanted Henry Cavill to play Edward Cullen in the ‘Twilight’ adaptation, but by the time casting occurred, he was already twenty-four, which she felt was too old for the teenage vampire. In a post on her blog in 2007, she wrote, “The most disappointing thing for me is losing my perfect Edward. Henry Cavill is now 24 years old. Let us have a moment of quiet in which to mourn.” The role eventually went to Robert Pattinson. Cavill only found out about any of this after the fact, telling the podcast, “The internet wasn’t quite the tool that it is now, so I only found out afterwards. I was like, ‘Oh okay, that would have been cool.’
